If you take this tour you should definitely hit up the Greek Islands as well. They're so close to Athens and it's the perfect wind-down after the tour. So beautiful and so much fun too!
I took a backpack on a European winter hotel tour. It was really useful to walk up the stairs to my room...It was also good to carry my luggage from bus to hotel...
Make sure you go and visit the Frauenkirche - Completely destroyed during the war, but now an amazing building open for visitors.
