The second largest country in Western Europe, it is home to over 60 million people bordering the Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Spain and the Principality of Monaco. The largest city and capital is Paris (home of the Eiffel Tower) with the remainder of the French spread through out popular beach resorts like Nice, Cannes, as well as rolling hills of the countryside in centers like Lyon and Bordeaux and mountainous ski resorts in alpine towns like Chamonix.

French influence of the former French Empire almost everywhere you look anywhere in the world from language, to food and fashion.

  1. If you can get up early enough (or haven’t gone to bed yet), watching the sun come up behind the Eiffel tower is an unforgettable experience. Some of the best viewing is from the Place du Trocadero, but it’s hard to go wrong if you’re anywhere in the area.
