Guaranteed Departures

Last Updated: Jul. 09, 2008

Contiki’s Guaranteed Departures make planning your tour easier and takes even more of the hassle out of traveling. When booking a Guaranteed Departure you can rest assured that you tour will take place on the scheduled date no matter what. This leaves you free to book flights and make other travel plans around your tour with total confidence.

As stated in our terms and conditions, and in accordance with the industry standard, Contiki reserves the right to change or cancel your booking due to operational requirements or circumstances beyond its control. This means that occasionally Contiki cancels a tour departure date due to insufficient numbers on a specific tour. If this is the case, you have the option of choosing a different departure date for the same tour, choosing a different tour on or around the departure date, or receiving a full refund.

The advantage of booking a Guaranteed Departure is that no matter what number of people book on tour, the tour will go ahead on the scheduled date unless situations arise that are out of Contiki’s control.

In Europe we have designated a large number of tours which we guarantee will operate on the scheduled date, unless circumstances occur beyond our control. Look for the Guaranteed Departure symbol against individual departure dates on the itinerary of your choice.

Tours that are not Guaranteed Departures

Contiki offers peace of mind as we guarantee that we will not reschedule any European tours within 50 days of departure through peak season (departures between May 1st to October 15th) unless circumstances occur that are beyond our control. This means that if Contiki or your travel agent has not contacted you 50 days of its departure date, the tour is going ahead and the departure date will not change. This also means that if you book within 50 days of the departure, the date will not change.

During the off-peak season (departures between October 16th to April 30th) this guarantee is 30 days.

Please note: The departure guarantee does not apply to North America, Australia or New Zealand tours which are normally guaranteed with minimum of 6 weeks).
