Itter is a very small town perched half way up a valley just above Hopfgarten in the sensationally beautiful Tyrol region of Austria.

A ski resort town during the winter, Itter is a taste of authentic life in an Austrian village and is also home to a castle, church, school and the Gasthof Ittererwirt, famous amongst the locals for hosting Contiki’s legendary ‘White Out’ theme parties.

The local area, like the rest of Austria, is free, fresh, safe and clean….breath the fresh mountain air, take a hike in the hills and experience the best of life in one of the country’s most beautiful regions.

Itter was one of the nicest town’s I’ve ever been in, absolutely gorgeous. It’s a sleepy town, but on Contiki you bring your own nightlife. This was one stop I wont forget.

Make sure you try currywurst in Germany. It's basically a hot dog with tomato sauce (ketchup) and curry powder. Tastes brilliant and only costs 1 or 2 Euro.
