The basic unit of currency in the USA is the Dollar ($).
Most US currency is in the form of paper notes available in $1, $2 (rare) $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100. Coins are available in 1c (penny) 5c (nickel) 10c (dime) 25c (quarter) 50c (rare) and $1 coin.

i live in canada and i wouldnt even expect to see a $2 bill. i havent seen one since i was about 15. thats 12 years ago. lol
also if you are traveling to canada bring something you can put alot of coins in. unless you are used to coins and already have that covered. i hate coins lol

i always made sure that i had 1USD tucked away in my wallet for tipping – early on in the trip i seemed to always get caught out with larger bills so i started to stash them and it worked a treat

I did my first Contiki in 2001 alone!It was the best thing I ever did and I had an absolute ball! I am about to go to America with people I met on my last Contiki tour in mid 2006! Just do it!
