Oslo, the Capital of Norway, is home to a little over half a million Norwegians.
Nothing to do with Contiki, the Kon-Tiki Museum is dedicated to Thor Heyerdahl, the Norwegian who set out to prove the theory that Polynesians sailed from South America on balsa wood rafts. The museum is home to the Kon-Tiki raft that on which Thor made his courageous voyage.
Walk through the historic parts of the city at the Akerhus Fortress which offers guided tours of the fortified walls with its cannons and fantastic views. The grounds are also home to the Norwegian Resistance Museum.
The Munch Museum is filled with works by Norway’s most famous artist, Edvard Munch. Although his most famous work ‘The Scream’ is not in the collection, it’s still an interesting visit into the sometimes disturbing art and mind of this modern master.
