Amsterdam has some of the best shopping in Europe and with over 10,000 retail outlets in the city center the city is a shoppers paradise.
Shoes, clothes, bags, music, books – you name it, Amsterdam has it. The Damrak, Nieuwendijkstraat and the Kalverstraat are great places to start.
Clogs are an every popular souvenir along with anything to do with windmills or the national flower, the tulip. Many tours visiting Amsterdam for two or more nights will visit a cheese and clog farm where you can see how clogs are carved by hand.
Markets with almost anything and everything can be found on weekdays and Saturdays at the Albert Cyupstraat Markets (near the Heineken Experience) while the Waterlooplein Markets also sell a rag-tag bunch of cheap clothes and second hand gear.

The cheese and clog farm is quite interesting and there are some really cheap prices on wooden clogs. Sounds strange, but they make a great souvenir.
