More About Me

I’m a Contiki Tour Manager, a job that fits like a glove to feed my insatiable thirst for understanding culture, history and politics through travel. I graduated from Penn State a few years ago. Before Contiki I worked in politics and broadcast journalism.

My Recent Comments

  1. State Street is where the party happens. The University of Wisconsin student body is one of the most nightlife crazy in the nation, and a walk down State Street while school is in session (or better yet, during football season) will surely propagate that reputation.

  2. For a different take on Bass Lake history, read Hells Angels: The Strange and Terrible Saga of Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs by Hunter S. Thompson. A good read on the Wild Western, but don’t worry: the chances of running into renegade biker gangs in Bass Lake today is quite slim.

  3. For those with an affinity for the outdoors Arizona is a paradise with enough activities to fill an entire holiday. If you find yourself in Phoenix with a couple spare days get your hands on a four-wheel drive vehicle and head to the Superstition Mountains to the east of the city. There you’ll find the Apache Trail (aka Arizona State Road 88), a truly remarkable drive virtually unrivaled in the Southwest. Great camping, great hiking…good times!

  4. A hike to the top of Yosemite Falls is among the best the park has to offer. Be in shape and ready to move fast, because if you want to make it to the top and back down in time the pace is quick. However, the valley view justifies the pace.

  5. Do not jump into the hot springs…aside from scalding water and caustic chemicals everyone will laugh at you. Nonetheless, hikes along the provided paths through basins of hot springs and geysers are an amazing experience reminiscent of an alien landscape.

  6. The absolute best hike in Zion is Angel’s Landing, it ends on a table top overlook 2000 feet above the valley floor offering a top 5 vista in the US National Park System. But you better be extra fit and possess some hiking expertise to get to the top. With vertical climbs and steep switchbacks this hike will tax even the most experienced of hikers.

  7. If you have a high-def video camera, be sure to take it on a hike with you to the bottom of the canyon. HD is the only way to bring out the gorgeous contrast of blue sky and red rock that you’ll want to show everyone at home.

  8. The trolley tour of Boston, offered as an optional, is the best way to see the entire city. Take it at your own pace, but I would suggest stopping off at the USS Constitution and Fenway.

  9. As Canada’s largest collection, the Royal Ontario Museum boasts exhibits ranging from paleontology to African Art to Canadian history. If you’re looking for more history with a backdrop of extravagant luxury, visit Casa Loma a castle built by one of Toronto’s robber baron elite.

  10. A fan of vertigo? Be sure to stand on the glass floor of the CN Tower observation deck, the world’s tallest freestanding structure (at least for the time being).
